Curriculum Vitae
Tobias Rudolph studied from 1997 to 2002 Geology/Palaeontology at the University of Münster. The graduate studies were finished with the diploma thesis “Earthquake Risks in German in respect to the Mining Industry (Erdbebenrisiken in Deutschland mit besonderem Bezug zur Bergbautätigkeit)". The diploma thesis was written as a scholar of the Munich Reinsurance in the department of GeoRiskResearch. In February 2003 he was honored with the award of the Faculty of Geoscience for the best diploma thesis. The Hildegard and Karl-Heinrich Heitfeld Foundation honored the diploma in April 2003 the a young researcher prize.
In 2002 he was working for the mining consultancy Deutsche Montan Technologie (DMT) in Essen as a researcher. From 2002 to 2006 he was employed as a research assistant at the Chair of Applied Geology at the Institute for Geology and Palaeontology of the University of Münster. In that time he wrote his Ph.D. thesis on the topic “Subsurface data in the southwest Münsterland and Ruhrgebiet (Deckgebirgsdaten im südwestlichen Münsterland und Ruhrgebiet)". For this research he was a scholar of the DAAD at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, USA.
Since 2006 Tobias Rudolph is working as a geologist in the Research Department of Shell International Exploration and Production in Rijswijk, the Netherlands. In his current job he supports project teams with geological expertise and analogue information. His own research focus is on the geology of the Münsterland basin and the understanding of geological processes in the subsurface. This includes also work in modeling the subsurface in 3D. The favourite tool for this work is the static modeling software Petrel.
Since 2008 he contributes to the work of the Economic Advisory Board of the University of Münster as a member of the board. The Economic Advisory Board is part of the Innovation Office.
Tobias Rudolph is since 1999 member of the Association of Geoscience of Germany (Deutsche Geowissenschaftliche Gesellschaft, DGG), since 2003 member of the Hydrogeological Section (FH-DGG) in the Association of Geoscience of Germany. Since 2006 he is also member of European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) and since 2008 member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologist (AAPG)
