Nationality: (Colombia since 1997)

Olga Vasilieva is a Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics at the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. She holds a Doctor of Engineering from the Hiroshima University in Japan as well as a PhD in Physics and Mathematics from the Irkutsk State University in Russia. Prof. Vasilieva's research interests include:

  • Optimal control for ODE systems
  • Numerical methods for optimization and optimal control
  • Differential games
  • Population and epidemiological modeling
  • Applications of optimization techniques in economics, biology, ecology, and epidemiology
  • Mathematical methods and models for sustainable management of natural resources

During her stay, Prof. Vasilieva was a guest of the group of Arndt Telschow. Together they worked on 'Optimal control methods for inducing the Wolbachia infection among the Aedes aegypti populations'.
