Research

Understanding the evolution of eukaryotic genome and gene architecture ultimately requires an understanding of the relative role played by population-genetic and molecular processes. This pursuit is currently hampered by the inadequate communication between the fields of population-genetics/molecular evolution and molecular/cell biology.

We intend to address this suboptimal interaction. My group integrates bioinformatics and experimental approaches to investigate how the interplay between intracellular and population genetic processes:

  1. leads to the emergence of functional genetic novelties and
  2. shapes gene architecture and expression in eukaryotes.
