Curriculum Vitae

Current Research Interests


My research interests include popular Hinduism, Anthropologies of Religion and Mobility, Performance theories, the local-to-global nexus, discourses & imaginaries of Otherness, and Transcultural entanglements. I have been working on a project titled, Staging Hinduism: Transnational Performances of Hindu Texts. A case study of Morari Bapu’s Ramkatha.

Academic Education


2009 - Pursuing a Doctoral programme at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Muenster.
1998 - Master of Arts (History), University of Mumbai Focus - A socio-political study of Western India in the 19th & 20th century.
1996 - Bachelor of Arts (History), Ramnarain Ruia Degree College, University Of Mumbai. Project – The relevance of Gandhism in Contemporary India.

Professional Programs


2011 - Successfully completed the module 'Understanding the Hindu Identity' from the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.
1998 - Qualified the National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC-NET) for lectureship in Universities/Colleges in India.

1999 - 2000 – Lecturer at the Department of History, Ramnarain Ruia Degree College, Mumbai

1996 - Certificate of Academic proficiency in History awarded for Bachelor studies, Ramnarain Ruia Degree College, Mumbai
1993-96 - Received the Government Open Merit scholarship during the three-year B.A. course.


Conferences and Workshops


1995 - Co-founded “Rajtarangini” a cultural association at the Ruia College, Department Of History, University of Mumbai.
1994 - Co organized a workshop on Numismatics in collaboration with the R.G. Bhandarkar Institute, Pune.
1993 – Co-organized a workshop “Society and Religion in British India”, Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture, Mumbai

Field Research


1996 - Conducted field study on the Relevance of Gandhian values in Modern Indian society in Mumbai.
1998 - Aided a field study conducted by Centre for Global Studies, Mumbai on Minimum Credible Deterrence and India’s Nuclear Security.
