Conductor

Volker Hagemann (*1988) studied school music and Catholic theology before completing his subsequent master's degree in choral conducting with Prof. Jörg Straube at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg in January 2017 with a performance of the Requiem by Carl Rütti (*1949). Courses with Professor Morten Schuldt-Jensen and Florian Benfer complement his conducting training.

Since January 2020, Volker Hagemann has been working as a conductor at the Choir Academy at the Konzerthaus Dortmund, where he is responsible for around 200 young singers. A series of acappella concerts have led him to renowned festivals such as the Kassel Music Days, the Weingartner Music Days, or the Stunde der Kirchenmusik in Stuttgart.

Cooperations with renowned orchestras, such as most recently the Bochum Symphony Orchestra for Bach's Christmas Oratorio, are also part of his field of activity.

As a lecturer, the young conductor is committed to the further and advanced training of choral conductors. He is also the artistic director of the German Girls' Choir Festival #SidebySide, which takes place annually in Dortmund. Volker Hagemann is a multiple prize winner of the 10th and 11th Bavarian Choir Competition.
