I am interested in faunistics and the ecology of animals in threatened biotope types such as semi-dry grasslands, heathlands and wet meadows. My fields of research cover different aspects of conservation biology and ecology (e.g. metapopulation ecology). As model organisms I use grasshoppers, butterflies, cicadas and dragonflies, since they are excellent indicator groups to evaluate the ecological value of a site. My current research focuses on the effects of land-use change and global warming on species diversity.
