Molecular Cell Biology and Physiology links research areas and methods from diverse biological disciplines such as biochemistry and molecular biology, bioinformatics, developmental biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology and modern microscopy. This facilitates the development of the theoretical and methodical basis for biotechnology and molecular medicine.
The importance of the Special Study Area "Molecular Cell Biology and Physiology" will increase in the future with regard to biomedical research. The research of some of the members associated with this Special Study Area is supported by the SFBs 492 and 692.
Beyond the SFB support, this Special Study Area is integrated in the graduate school 1050 and a master in biomedicine is offered in conjunction with colleges from the Department of Medicine.
