Web of Science

The Web of Science offers access to the following databases:

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) 1994 to present
This is the one Literature students are most likely to use.
  • Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) 1994 to present
  • Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) 1994 to present

Entries of the citation databases contain not only bibliographical information and abstracts, but also references for the texts cited in the articles themselves. These texts have also been made accessible for retrieval.
This means that there are three starting points for your research:

“General Search” – for a traditional research by entering key terms, author names, titles of journals, or names of corporations.
“Cited Reference Search” – searching for articles which cite the author name or article title entered.
“Related Screen” – provides a list of articles whose list of references contains at least one source cited by the original article.

Further information on the WoS can be found here.
Access to WoS via PCs located in the university network or VPN. Please click here.
