Since Feb. 2012, Carla Müller-Schulzke is research assistant in the DFG-funded project “Sound Studies Lab: Functional Sounds” at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Institut für Kulturwissenschaft. She has recently submitted her PhD thesis on British Asian club music in the UK at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.She is member of the research network Sound in Media Culture (founded in 2010) and the research network Beyond Text: Creativity Beyond Borders (Goldsmiths College, University of London, founded in 2008).
She is member of ASNEL/GNEL - Association for Postcolonial Studies in German-speaking countries (she was member of the advisory board from 2009-2011)

Research interests include sound in popular music, urban club culture, contemporary cultural and postcolonial studies.
