Patent-Scouts
Patent scouts have been promoted by the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Innovation since 2008. In January 2009 the WWU patent scout started her work. After a comprehensive qualification and training phase she is now available as a contact for university academics at WWU with regard to all issues surrounding industrial property rights. In addition to an individual advisory service for inventors on-site, the aim is to recruit disseminators and, in particular, junior academics. Talks aimed at raising awareness, as well as information events, will increase the spread of information on the issue of patents among academics. To this end, numerous synergy effects will be used not only through cooperation with PROvendis, the patents agency responsible for North Rhine-Westphalia’s universities, but also through close collaboration with other patent scouts in the POWeR-network and involvement in other patents-related projects at WWU.
