Adventure through Researchland
Once a month, a university lecture for children is given at one of the schools in the District of Unna. Besides WWU, those taking part include universities from Dortmund, Bochum, Hagen, Meschede and Iserlohn. In this way, Unna local government hopes to get children interested in science at an early age. AFO coordinates WWU’s contributions to the Unna children’s university, thus helping to transfer a successful concept into the region.
15 schoolchildren between the ages of 8 and 13 had already taken a keen interest in the children’s university and had attended all the lectures the year before. In January they visited Münster and WWU. After briefly sitting in on a mathematics lecture given by Prof. Raimar Wulkenhaar they experimented in the “MexLab” in the Institute of Applied Physics and went on an “Adventure through Researchland”. After lunch in the refectory it was time to say goodbye to the “junior students”, who left with the official WWU bag for first-year students.
