Business Start-ups
AFO supports students, scientists and Alumni of Münster University in developing business start-ups and projects for putting ideas into practice - and then getting them off the ground. Thus, it provides assistance in drawing up business plans and applying for funding such as the EXIST grants for business start-ups offered by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology or the Validation of Innovation Potential by the German Ministry of Education and Research. Individual events of these projects can be found in the programme of the WWU. Transfer School. Up to date information, also regarding the topic of business start-ups can be found on the AFO homepage.

EXIST Grant
With the help of the EXIST Grant students, alumni and scientists from universities or external research facilities receive support in realizing their business ideas. The grant is a support program initiated by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology and is co-financed by the European Social Fund. AFO takes care of the entrepreneurs during the entire process of establishing the business, starting from the creation of a business plan to the actual application. Further information can be found here.
EXIST Research Transfer
Similar to the EXIST Grant, the EXIST Research Transfer is a support program initiated by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology and is co-financed by the European Social Fund. Within this support program outstanding research based business ideas, whose development is believed to be time-consuming and risky, are financed. Again, AFO supports individuals in the application process.
Validation of Innovation Potential
This program initiated by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology supports researchers from universities and public institutions regarding the technical implementation, the accession of new application areas as well as by the verification of the economic potential of their research results.
Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs
Experience in a foreign country is important! Exactly this credo is picked up by the project Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs. As a result, motivated young entrepreneurs receive EU-financing for one to six month stays abroad. During this time, they are able to acquire valuable knowledge concerning the establishment of a business and the management of small and medium-sized enterprises from an experienced entrepreneur. Especially if one has just started her or his self-employment or is intending to do so, the support of an experienced businessman should not be underestimated. More information can be found here.
