International trade fair participation at the MIT
The WWU presented itself at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston with the support of the Federal Ministry for Research at the European Career Fair from Feb 2nd to 4th, as an attractive academic employer. From a pure job fair, where leading European companies woo for employees, the trade fair has recently advanced to a highly attractive presentation forum and labour market for science.
Together with officials from various departments, e.g. universities, research funding organizations, independent research establishments, delegates from trade and industry, as well as political representatives in connection with education and research, the WWU participated in the 8th GAIN annual conference (German Academic International Network) for German scientists in North America, which also took place at the MIT with the aim of showing German scientists in the USA occupational perspectives in Germany and to enable a direct exchange.
The conference was organized in cooperation with the GSO (German Scholars Organization) and carried out with the support of the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service and the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft.
In both trade fairs, deputy rector Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schmitz, Martina
Hofer from the International Office, Dr. Iris Fleßenkämper, excellence
cluster religion and politics, and Dr. Wilhelm Bauhus from the AFO
participated for the WWU. For all representatives of the WWU it came as
a great surprise to discover the tremendous interest expressed by
researchers regarding an assignment to the University of
Münster. AFO-fields of work
