Mission Statement
The Arbeitsstelle Forschungstransfer (AFO) acts as an innovation office within the University of Münster. Our mission is to promote and enhance the transfer of research, knowledge and technology. Our partners are industry and business, the public sector, and governmental and non-governmental organisations and individuals. The focus of our activities is to establish cultures of entrepreneurship and of intellectual property rights. Excellent transfer activities between university members and their external partners are recognized annually with our Transfer Prize.
AFO attempts to communicate science and research to the public. Accordingly, we support the City of Münster in developing an authentic profile as a city of science. Furthermore, our organisation serves as a marketing unit for worldwide research presentations. We are committed to international co-operation and benchmarking. Therefore we are always looking for new potential partners. We also offer students from abroad a special trainee programme.
In addition to education and research the commitment to technology transfer has become the University of Münster’s third mission. The University assures the quality of education, research and knowledge transfer regularly and at all levels. AFO feels responsible for local, regional, national and international relations. It employs people with personal qualities in line with the concept drawn up by the University of Wisconsin. The staff acts in a strictly confidential manner.
Our organisation applies the principle of subsidiarity as a result not only of its internal structure, but also as a matter of conviction. Even though AFO is a non-profit unit within the University of Münster, this does not imply that we can offer research cooperation free of charge.
